Meet the Hobbs'

Because we know how important your cats are to you, we think it is important that you know a little bit about us – Sandy and Andy Hobbs, owners of Rohese Cattery.

The first and most important thing about us both is that we have both always loved animals and from children upwards we have always had cats and dogs in our lives.

For myself, Sandy, my background moved from working in Ambulance control to working as part of the Events team in nearby Eastbourne where we delivered some outstanding events including an International Airshow, Beer Festival, Skate, International Ladies tennis and a number of other events throughout a busy year. Organisational skills and attention to detail being the order of the day I have subsequently studied for the Diploma in Cattery and Kennel Management and have utilised my knowledge of supporting Cats Protection League and the RSPCA.

Andy, my husband, loves animals too. As a keen supporter of the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and in a career spanning 30 plus years working as a Sussex Police Officer Andy’s time included specialist working in partnership with the RSPCA dealing with the identification and prosecution of individuals responsible for cruelty to domestic or commercial animals. There is no doubt as to his love of all animals and he always has some project or other on the go. He has created a large Koi Carp Pond for the cats to enjoy. The next project is some chickens and some bees for the garden but this activity will have to take second place to an extensive on-going maintenance programme for the Cattery. Part of the programme includes new roofs fitted in October 2010 to all the cattery buildings which not only improve the appearance but the polycarbonate sheets help to improve the insulation of the buildings.
